Cute: Baby raccoon gets rescued and thinks it's one of the dogs!
When Laura Young found an injured baby raccoon that had fallen out of a tree in her yard in Nassau, Bahamas, she brought the little critter in to nurse it back to health.
Soon the racoon, which she named Pumpkin, was feeling much better. But it turned out that this raccoon wasn't looking to get back into the wild. While she was recovering, she formed a strong bond with Laura's two rescue dogs, Toffee and Oreo. The trio is practically inseparable: playing together, lounging together, and taking many many naps together.
After Pumpkin had been living with the family for a few months, Laura started an Instagram account to keep friends and family up to date with the animal's progress. Soon this little raccoon had a very large following of fans who loved seeing her daily adventures.
Laura hopes to use Pumpkin’s celebrity status to raise awareness of animal welfare in the Bahamas. Along with Toffee and Oreo, Pumpkin shows us that even when we're not the same species, we're really not that different at all!
