Expectant mother sacrifices own life for unborn son
Seventeen-year-old Jenny Lake was a completely normal teenager. who went to high school in Pocatello, Idaho. Jenny was still young when she had to make a decision that would place anyone in a brutal inner conflict. This story is devastating.
Jenny began suffering from excruciating headaches. After several days of torture, she finally went to her doctor. During the checkup, the doctor found a large object, about 1 inch in diameter, inside her brain. Soon after, Jenny received the shocking diagnosis: it was cancer.
She had to undergo chemotherapy if she wanted to live.
For her family and her boyfriend Jason, the diagnosis was a massive shock. But everyone stood behind Jenny.
But then she received some news that would normally be greeted with delight — she was pregnant.
Though Jenny was happy about the baby, she then had to make the hardest decision of her life. The baby would die if she continued her chemotherapy. But if she ceased her treatment, she wouldn't survive her illness. It was a brutal life or death decision.
After much agonizing, Jenny made her decision: she stopped her chemotherapy and gave birth to little Chad Michael nine months later. However, that also meant she would die. When Chad was born, she took the midwife's hand, pulled her closer, and whispered: "I did it. I fulfilled my duty."
After six days, Jenny left the hospital. She wanted to bring Chad home and be close to him.
Twelve days after Chad's birth, Jenny died while holding her son in her arms.
Her motherly love was so strong that she sacrificed herself for the life of her son. That is indescribable love that only a mother can feel for her child.
Chad's heart will always be filled with his mother's love.
It's unbelievably touching how strong, brave, and loving Jenny was.
