Girl wants vacation for daddy — his boss replies

If there's lots to do at the office, many people work overtime or wait for less hectic times of the year to take vacations. That's why important events such as family celebrations and birthdays sometimes have to fall by the wayside. Young Katie knew that all too well and was worried that her father would not be able to celebrate his birthday with her.

This prompted the young girl to write a delightful note to her dad's boss at Google. In her sweet letter, Katie makes it perfectly clear that there are more important things in life than work...

"Dear Google worker,

Can you please make sure when daddy goes to work, he gets one day off. Like he can get a day off on Wednesday, because daddy ONLY gets a day off on Saturday.

From Katie

P.S.: It is daddy's birthday!

P.P.S.: It is summer, you know!"

Her dad's boss, Daniel Shiplacoff, received the wonderful note and wanted to put a smile on the young girl's face with his reply...

"Dear Katie,

Thank you for your thoughtful note and request.

You father has been hard at work designing many beautiful and delightful things for Google and millions of people across the globe.

On the occasion of his Birthday, and recognizing the importance of taking some Wednesdays off during the summer, we are giving him the whole first week of July as vacation time.

Daniel Shiplacoff."

So young Katie was able to get some time off for her father — and not just one day, but a entire week! Her dad must've been happy about that. After being able to spend the day with his smart daughter, it must've been a very special birthday for him, too!
